Ras Al Khaimah, historically known as Julfar, is the capital and largest city of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is also the 6^th largest city in the UAE, with a population of 115,949 as of 2021. The city’s northern area has previously functioned as an important Islamic settlement and the port of Julfar. Ras Al Khaimah has a rich history dating back 7,000 years ago, when the first human inhabitants were discovered in the city. Economically, the city is the center of the RAKEZ (Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone), which operates by connecting investors to international markets through an online client portal called Portal 360. Its most promoted businesses include startups, freelancers, and SMEs across 50 industries. Ras Al Khaimah is home to a global ceramics manufacturer, the RAK Ceramics, with over 12,000 employees and an annual turnover of around $1 billion.
