CL063: Melissa Ferrick on creative songwriting and building a fanbase

In this episode of The Creative Life Podcast I talk with singer-songwriter Melissa Ferrick about the process of creative songwriting.

Melissa, an eight time Boston music award winner, is regarded as one of the most prolific and hard working artists in the business. She performs regularly throughout North America with up to 100 shows a year and has shared the stage with Morrisey, John Hyatt, Bob Dylan, Ani DiFranco, K.D Lang, Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin and many many others. Her 12th original album, a coming home and a self titled album, is in many ways a new beginning for Ferrick. Written in just over a year, recorded at home, it’s out now on her newly relaunched label Right On Records.

We discuss the power of building a loyal fanbase of true fans and Melissa shares with us why accepting help is her biggest weakness and how she coped up.
